Alan

Instructor
Alan graduated from Kellogg College, Oxford, with a doctorate in philosophy. His thesis discussed teaching and the handling of data. He was voted as the best teacher in Oxfordshire five times! Alan, after many years of teaching maths, is now retired. His passion for teaching and his skill with children led him to Mathnasium, the perfect place for him to enjoy life in retirement. In his spare time, he also volunteers at a free bicycle repair shop and is a keen cyclist.

Azka

Instructor
Azka is currently studying Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. He achieved 5 A*s at A-level, which include both Maths and Further Maths. He enjoys competing in competitive academic challenges to test his skills. He achieved a Gold medal in the Senior Maths challenge and he also placed in the top 100 students in the UK in British Physics Olympiad too! In his spare time Azka loves making Origami models (feel free to give him a challenge to make you something)

Nick

Instructor
Nick is in his final year of his A-Levels. His is studying Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. He is the youngest member of our team but took his Maths A level a year early and got an A* already. He hopes to study Physics at Oxford University next year upon completion of his A-levels. Nick loves taking part in academic challenges and achieved a Gold certificate in the senior Maths challenge. He was awarded Best in School for his hard work. In his free time Nick experiments in electronics. He can take a computer apart, fix it and put it back together for fun. So you know who to speak to if you have any computer issues*

Cari

Lead Instructor
Cari taught maths and chemistry in an American high school for five years, bringing a wealth of experience and skills in effectively engaging students and fostering a love for learning. Having recently relocated to Oxford to support her husband’s studies, Cari finds Mathnasium North Oxford a perfect place for her to continue her love of working with students and solving puzzles. In her spare time, Cari enjoys running with her dog, exploring new places with her toddler, and immersing herself in a good book. Cari takes pride in her accomplishment of running a 50km race and even convinced her husband and brother to participate alongside her.

Penny

Instrucor
Graduated from the Hong Kong University with a bachelor degree in maths, Penny dedicated twenty-six years to teaching maths in secondary schools in Hong Kong before moving to Oxford with her family. Penny's academic and teaching background has equipped her with a strong foundation in mathematical principles and problem-solving skills, as well as pedagogical approach to effectively engage and inspire students. In her leisure time, Penny loves reading novels and engaging logical games like Sudoku.

Alyssa

Instructor
Alyssa is currently pursuing her MSc in Global Health Sciences and Epidemiology at the University of Oxford. Prior to her time in Oxford, she lived in the United States, studying mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis. With a natural affinity for working with students, Alyssa is delighted for the opportunity to contribute to the enriching learning environment at Mathnasium North Oxford. Her love for teaching and dedication to helping students succeed make her a valuable asset to the centre's team. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys taking long walks and exploring the great outdoors. If you have any recommendations for nice hikes, Alyssa would be pleased to hear them!

Magnus

Instrucor
Magnus is passionate in mathematics and the sciences. Currently, he is studying A-level in maths, further maths, physics, and chemistry. Additionally, Magnus is engaged in an Extended Project Qualification on Fourier Analysis, demonstrating his enthusiasm for exploring complex mathematical concepts. He is a gold medallist in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. His exceptional aptitude in mathematics is evident through his achievement of a gold medal in the UKMT senior Maths challenge. Magnus plans to pursue a degree in Maths at Warwick University. Beyond academics, Magnus volunteers as a Karate instructor for children as well as finding time to train in jiu-jitsu. Magnus's diverse interests and accomplishments make him a valuable asset to the Mathnasium North Oxford team, where his love for maths effectively inspires and motivates students.
