Our Team

Our specially trained maths instructors will teach your child how to understand maths in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps children thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

Ping Woolley, Owner/Centre Director

Ping studied law and was the former Deputy Director at the Great Britain China Centre in London.  She was responsible for developing and implementing many projects on reforms of the Chinese legal system and has worked closely with high level judiciaries in both the UK and China. Moving from London to Oxford in July 2017, Ping was delighted to be given the chance to open the first UK Mathnasium franchise in September 2018.  To students who aspire to be the next legal eagle turned statemen, Ping advocates mastery of mathematical proof skills because concepts of probability and inference will come handy one day when making strong legal arguments and in parliamentary debates.  Besides running the Centre, Ping is involved in other industries such as animal husbandry, agriculture and environmental protection which, when factorised, is equal to 3 hens, a 2m x 3m vegetable plot and one hot bin turning shreded paper into garden compost.

Hannah, Lead Maths Instructor

Hannah graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Mathematics. She then started working in educational publishing, writing and proofreading resources for school-level maths. Two of Hannah passions are maths and rowing. Hannah loves teaching maths and she is not only instructing students in maths learning at Mathnasium. In her free time, Hannah can usually be found by the river – rowing, coxing or coaching.

Casimir, Lead Maths Instructor (currently on workplacement outside Oxford)

Casimir is currently studying for his Bachelor in Computer Science at Oxford Brookes University, having worked in the energy industry for four years. He has always loved problem solving with mathematics – it’s what inspired him to pursue his subject. Cairmir enjoys helping his students reach their ‘lightbulb moments’ in maths - those moments when a child connects the dots and understands a new maths concept. When not studying or teaching, Casimir likes playing board games and table-top role-playing games with his friends.

Charlie, Maths Instructor

Charlie is currently studying for his A-levels at Cherwell Sixth Form in Further Maths, Physics and Philosophy having already achieved A* in Maths in Year 12.   Fascinated by the ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras who once uttered ‘there is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres’, Charlie is now on his quest to read Maths and Music in university.  Charlie fills his spare moments involving in a jazz group that regularly plays in public venues and private functions. Presently, he is studying for grade 8 in jazz.

 Obi, Maths Instructor

Obi recently graduated from Eton College having achieved Maths and Further Maths both with A* along with Physics and Greek all with flying colours. He is taking a gap year before going to university to study for a Maths degree.  During his school years, Obi was awarded top prizes in United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Challenges - Individual Challenges (Gold), Junior Challenges (Gold) and Senior Challenges (Silver). Obi also volunteers in teaching maths at a local secondary school. When he is not pondering over quadratic equations or square of the hypotenuse, Obi plays rugby, football, kick boxing, cycling and even…… reading.

Jacob, Maths Instructor

Jacob joined the team over the summer having achieved A* in five A-level exams: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Latin (results came out this week, August 2019). During his school years at Magdalen College School, Jacob was awarded numerous Gold Certificates in UKMT Mathematical Challenges ranging from Intermediate to Senior Mathematical Challenges. His Gold Certificate collection goes beyond maths as he amassed many gold certificates in other subjects, such as RSC UK Chemistry Olympiad Gold Certificate and Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and British Physics Olympiad in 2018 alone. There is simply not enough space to list all the gold certificates that find their ways to Jacobs over the years. He will be studying for a Mathematics degree in Oxford University from October 2019. In his spare time, Jacob loves programming websites and games and he has built his own computer.
