Rab Selvaratnam, Centre Director
Prior to Mathnasium, Rab Selvaratnam was a Business Performance Manager at HSBC where responsibilities included steering; Strategy, Financial Performance and the Customer Experience of the European HSBC markets. His previous experience includes Financial Advisory at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and employment as a Strategic Finance Manager at Commonwealth Bank (whilst living in Australia).
Rab is a Certified Chartered Accountant (qualified with PwC).
Having an analytical background as well as being both strong and naturally interested in Maths, Rab places significant emphasis on Mathematical confidence, and how this skillset is critical in a world where there is increasing uncertainty around ever-changing job requirements. Rab’s wife in fact is a Management Consultant, focusing specifically on the upskilling requirements for the ‘Workforce of the Future’, so setting up Generation Z and Generation Alpha for careers of the future, is very close to home!
Outside of work, Rab enjoys staying fit, playing golf and watching Arsenal (scrape) a win!
Arman has a PGCE, is QTS certified and has experience teaching Secondary school Maths. Arman tutors with the belief that it’s not a matter of if but when, always looking to install a growth mindset in his students.
Arman is seen as the education specialist at Mathnasium Harrow, with his key focus being the progression of students.
When he is not tutoring, Arman is watching anime or playing basketball.
Roshini holds a First Class degree in BSc Mathematics. She is ever committed to passing on her knowledge as she understands how important mathematics is in today’s world of constant change. Roshini takes great pleasure tackling all sort of mathematical problems, because understands every problem holds a logical solution. Prior to joining Mathnasium, Roshini has had prior experience in tutoring children Maths, aligned to her strong passion of working with children and helping the community. Outside of work, Roshini’s biggest passion is travelling anywhere that is worth seeing! She is a keen bookworm and never travels without a book. She also loves swimming to keep fit and healthy!
Shivani is currently on a gap year and has a place at the London School of Economics to study Mathematics next year. She achieved A*’s in Maths and Economics, and an A in Sociology at A Levels, and achieved 7 A*’s and 3 9’s at GCSE. Shivani is eager to not only help children with their Maths, but to also pass on her enthusiasm for the subject, and has had previous experience tutoring Maths. Outside of work and studies, Shivani enjoys going to the gym to keep fit, and going on hiking trips abroad (next stop Dolomites, Italy!).
Sarah is a recent graduate from University College London, completing her degree in Biotechnology. Despite coming from a rough school, she has consistently achieved A’s and A*’s and hopes to provide the same safe and quiet environment tuition had provided her to other children alike. Having had tuition herself, she has been exposed to both good and bad experiences during her tuition sessions, and ensures that these past experiences as a tutee are what improves her skill as a tutor. In her spare time, she loves to draw and is currently delving into graphical art. Additionally, she also enjoys playing weekly badminton and the occasional run (when she can!).
Yaseen has a Master’s in Chemical Engineering and has completed the International Baccalaureate programme. He is passionate about his work and particularly enjoys helping young people achieve their full potential. Yaseen has had prior experience tutoring Maths and Science in the past and outside of Mathnasium. He enjoys sports, training, reading about history and watching documentaries.
