Mathnasium’s explosive domestic franchise growth continues to get attention. Online magazine 24/7 Wall Street has named Mathnasium No. 9 on its list of Hottest Businesses to Franchise in America, a higher ranking than well-known brands such as Supercuts, Carl’s Jr., and Motel 6. Mathnasium is the only education brand to make the selective list of 20 companies.
Pointing to the near doubling of Mathnasium franchise units between 2014 and 2019, the magazine noted that more U.S. children are struggling to meet minimum standards in mathematics.
“As math proficiency rates continue to trend downward in American schools, many parents may be more inclined to turn to tutoring to ensure their children are mastering critical material. This may help explain why Mathnasium Learning Centers, a math tutoring service for students in grades K-12, ranks among the fastest growing franchises in the United States.”
The Hottest Businesses list was culled from data from Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500® list, an industry benchmark from one of the world’s most respected entrepreneurial publications. Only companies with more than 500 U.S. franchise establishments were considered.
For 2020, Mathnasium rose to no. 29 on Entrepreneur’s highly competitive list out of more than 1,100 companies analyzed — a remarkable achievement for a company that began franchising in 2003. Entrepreneur’s analysis incorporated multiple factors: costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability.
USA Today picked up the “Hottest Businesses” story, adding that the “rapid growth among the companies on this list is not only an indication of the popularity of the product or service they provide, but also often the continued viability of the business model. For example, the companies on this list tend to be in industries that will not likely suffer from changes to the consumer landscape brought on by technological advances.”
